I am the product of a veterinary school romance, so my fate was sealed from a very early age. My father was a research veterinarian at the CFIA and my mother (one of few female veterinarians at the time) owned and operated a small animal clinic in Stittsville, ON. I graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1994 and have an atypical career path. My first year was spent in a mixed animal practice near Midland, ON, before I returned to OVC as a staff veterinarian, eventually completing a Master's degree. A major plot twist saw me move to England and join a mixed animal practice in Peterborough, Cambs, which was a jolly good time. Returning home, I worked in Stittsville, before meeting my husband, Rob and moving to join him in Kingston. We share our home with an elderly Pomeranian, Pilot and 1 ¾ cats: Boo, my old boy from Peterborough and Bits, my three-legged rescue from Napanee. Over the years, I have come to enjoy the daily interactions with people and pets, with a particular interest in feline medicine. In my spare time, I enjoy yoga, gardening, travel and scuba diving.
