Radiology is an important diagnostic tool that helps our veterinarians evaluate what may be causing an issue in your cat’s body. Assessing the digital pictures will help us find out what is causing a problem or may rule out any potential concerns.

What is the difference between a cat x-ray and a cat ultrasound?

Ultrasound can provide images of the internal organs with more detail than x-rays. It allows the veterinarian to see around and behind organs in real time and allows them to assess organ size and density. It also allows the doctor to better visualize soft tissues and fluids. X-rays are helpful in assessing the heart, airways, and skeletal system, and in looking for foreign objects.

Does the clinic also do feline dental x-rays?

We perform feline dental radiographs with every dental procedure. Dental x-rays are very important to diagnose root disease below the gum line that we cannot see on the exam. They are particularly helpful to identify the common feline problem of tooth resorption.

How much does a cat x-ray cost?

The cost of the x-rays will vary based on the presenting concern and on physical exam. An estimate will be prepared and reviewed with you prior to proceeding.
